Premarital counseling (sometimes called premarriage counseling) can be a great asset to a couple. Progressing on a new life together is typically more complicated than it seems. The excitement of marriage often puts blinders on people preventing them from seeing potential pitfalls in their future. I am not trying to say that marriage is always full of pitfalls, however, I think that many pitfalls experienced in marriage would not be as detrimental if the couple had prepared themselves better. It has been said that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I think spending a little time on some brief premarital counseling or in one of our premarital workshops would help many couples avoid more costly future problems.
