Are You Suffering from Chronic Stress?

Are You Suffering from Chronic Stress?

At times we all have experienced a sensation of things getting out of control and this can cause you to be “stressed out,” but not all stress is bad, in fact is a common thing. However, continuing (ongoing) stress can lead to many different health and emotional problems. In a consultation with my primary doctor, as I was explaining my stress symptoms, he educated me about the importance of preventing and managing chronic stress. By doing that you can lower your risk for serious conditions like heart diseases, high blood pressure, obesity, and a possible major depression disorder.

I want you to think about your own experiences dealing with stress and try to identify the feelings and sensations that people under stress may feel:

___Are you unable to focus?

___Are you angry?

___Are you irritable?

___Are you worried?

___Are you depressed?

___Are you feeling anxious?

___Are you feeling out of control?

Also, the physical signs that can be affecting your body include:

___Problems sleeping

___Upset stomach

___Headaches

___Tense muscles

___Back pain

___Lack of appetite/eating too much

___Weight gain or loss

___Frequent colds

If you are experiencing chronic stress symptoms, make a personal resolution and try the following:

  1. Learn how to plan by establishing daily routines and schedules
  2. Prioritize your daily tasks
  3. Be consistent
  4. Consider preparing yourself physically and mentally to cope with stressful events
  5. Notice when you feel stressed (check the list above)
  6. Taking time to disconnect and relax
  7. Eat healthy and be active
  8. Reconnect with friends and family

At Swinton Counseling we can help you to manage your chronic stress symptoms and support your healing process to a more happier life!
